CT SBIR Office Awards a Technology Assessment Report To Candeck
June 29, 2007. East Hartford, CT. The Connecticut SBIR Office, an initiative of the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT), announced Candeck as one of the 20 winners of idea assessment reports as part of their June 20-21 SBIR/NALI conference in East Hartford, "The Future of Manufacturing is INNOVATION.&trade"
Upon hearing the news Jim Hogue, CEO of Candeck, remarked, "This is awesome news as it gives us access to outside input on the validity of our plans in the market place."
Jim further stated "This report will help Candeck use our time and money wisely so we can avoid developing products that either have no market or may have too much competition to be viable".
Deb Santy, Director of the SBIR Office, stated that this was the reason that the SBIR office has been making these awards on a regular basis. Past winners have found them to be very helpful in encouraging the good parts of proposals and weeding out or modifying the weaker portions.
Foresight Science and Technology (FST), the choice of many federal SBIR agencies, selected the winners and provides the assessment reports. According to FST, their Go/NoGo™ report is an early stage weeding tool, designed to identify "show-stoppers to commercialization" before resources are spent commercializing a technology that is unlikely to succeed. As independent technology audits, a report can serve as an objective statement of merit -- a great tool to help a small business gain funding since it identifies promising technology ideas in terms of future products and global marketability.
Deb Santy and her team will continue to offer these technology assessment reports in the future because they are a proven tool to reduce risk and improve the chances for a company to license or commercialize its technology.
